Cryptocurrency news: Cryptocurrency prices surged on Friday to end the week. Bitcoin fell slightly after hitting $25,000 for the second day in a row and hitting an eight-month high on Thursday.
Cryptocurrency Price Action
After peaking at $25,009 on Friday afternoon, Bitcoin’s price returned to $24,700 in the evening. BTC jumped to a monthly high of $25,242 on Thursday morning and overnight he fell to $23,360. The last time Bitcoin traded above $25,000 was in August. BTC surged 8% on Wednesday and hovered around mid-January lows for the past five days before breaking above $24,100 in the afternoon. The world’s largest cryptocurrency is up 49% this year after his FTX collapsed in early November.
Ethereum surpassed $17,000 for the third time this month on Friday, reaching $1,721 in the afternoon. ETH hit a monthly high of $1,740 on Thursday morning after trading around $1,500 for most of the week. Ethereum has not traded above $1,700 since mid-September. The second cryptocurrency is up 41% year-to-date.
